the lighthouse gathering place
The Lighthouse (Al Manara) creates places where people who sometimes feel like outsiders can feel welcomed as insiders, by dropping in, having a cup of coffee, use our free WiFi or study for a German class. We create places where families can feel comfortable. Lounges and a café make the Lighthouse a very welcoming place for every member of the family. There are always people ready to talk with you about spiritual and emotional needs and help with practical life questions.
Upcoming events
Normally we say,
“Come visit us during one of our events!
You can relax and enjoy our comfortable place and meet new people!”
However, during the German government’s lockdown response to the pandemic, our meetings are by appointments involving masks and social distancing or often via digital communication tools.
Please complete the contact information at the bottom of this page to schedule.

get involved
We are always looking for people to help, donate time, money or other resources. Below are a few opportunities we are currently seeking to find help with.
Conversation Partners
If you are living in Berlin and looking for ways to help with refugees, we need German-speaking people to join us as “conversation partners” since most refugees have little opportunity to practice the German they are learning in class. Click below to give us your contact information or come in to the Lighthouse and talk with one of the staff.
Seeking Renting to NewComers Opportunities
One of the biggest needs among immigrants & refugees is a permanent place to live. Some have been searching for more than 2 years for an apartment. If you have a small apartment or know someone who would be willing to rent to refugees,
